Bali in November 2026: Is It Worth It? A Canggu Verdict
Is November a good time to visit Bali? Yes, if you accept the trade. You get fewer people, lower prices and an afternoon downpour most days, in exchange for the dry-season crowds. Canggu averages roughly 150 mm of rain in November, almost all of it after lunch, with the sea sitting at 28 to 29°C. Mornings are the best part of the day.
We run two villas in Padonan, in northern Canggu, so this is not a brochure guess. Below is what November 2026 actually looks like on the ground: the rain, the beaches, the ceremonies on the calendar and what it does to your budget.
The short version. This is the shoulder before the December rush. Book it now and you get the quiet.

How wet is Canggu in November 2026?
Wetter than October, drier than January. November is when the rainy season begins, not when it peaks. For scale, January is the wettest month in southern Bali, with around 388 mm over 19 rainy days. November brings roughly 150 mm. As we reported in September, the rains arrived later than usual this year, so the ground has had less time to saturate.
The pattern is predictable. Sunny morning, cloud building around 2 or 3 pm, a hard downpour for an hour or two, then a clear, cooler evening. Humidity sits near 85%, which is the real cost of the season. Everything feels damp, and your laundry takes longer to dry. The rice fields behind Padonan are at their greenest.
Plan the day around the sky rather than fighting it:
Surf, scooter rides and beach walks before 11 am, while the wind is light.
Long lunch and laptop time at a café while the afternoon cloud builds.
Massage, spa or a film on the projector once the rain arrives.
Dinner out is usually dry, but carry a rain jacket if you ride a scooter.
One practical note. Rain in Bali is rarely a full-day write-off. If you check the forecast and see a rain icon for every day, assume two hours of it, not twelve.
What is happening in Bali in November 2026?
Quieter than June, but not empty. The Balinese calendar keeps moving whatever the weather does, and a few dates are worth knowing before you plan transfers or dinner.
1 November, Banyu Pinaruh. The day after Saraswati, when Balinese families go to the sea or a spring for ritual purification. Expect people in white at Canggu beaches early in the morning. Watch, do not photograph close up, and give them space.
1 November, Makepung. The buffalo races in Jembrana, west Bali. A long day trip from Canggu, so leave early.
4 November, Pagerwesi. A day of spiritual protection, with prayers at temples and offerings in doorways.
9 November, Tilem. The new moon, a quiet ceremonial day across the island.
24 November, Purnama. The full moon. Expect temple processions and slow roads near local temples, so add 15 minutes to any transfer.
What you will not see this month are the tall bamboo penjor poles of Galungan. Galungan and Kuningan fell in June this year and return in January 2027.
The practical rule for any ceremony day is simple. Processions have right of way over everything, including your driver, your scooter and your dinner reservation. Leave early, stay calm, and wear a sarong and sash if you step inside a temple. Nobody will mind the delay, and it is often the most memorable part of the day.
November is when Canggu exhales. Tables are easy to get, the beach has room, and the rice fields behind Padonan turn a green that makes the dry season look tired. — Evarah Collection

Is the surf and beach any good in November?
Still good, with conditions. Our October guide called that month the last clean one for Canggu surf, and November follows the same arc. Mornings can be glassy. By early afternoon the onshore wind turns the lineup choppy, and the swell gets lumpier as the wet season sets in.
If you are learning, Batu Bolong stays friendly, and Berawa is a 17-minute walk from our villas. If you are not surfing, the black-sand beaches are quieter than at any point since February. One warning: rip currents get stronger in the wet season. Swim between the flags and ask the lifeguards before you go in.
Sunsets are the other reason to come. When the afternoon cloud clears, the light over the Indian Ocean is better than anything the dry season offers.
What do you do in Canggu when it rains?
Less than you think, and that is the point. Canggu is built for a slow afternoon. There are cafés within a short walk of Padonan, spas on every second lane, cooking classes, pottery studios and enough coworking desks to turn a wet Tuesday into your most productive day of the trip.
Be careful with day trips. Ubud gets around 60% more rain than the coast, roughly 248 mm in November against Canggu's 154 mm, so a morning in the rice terraces is a better bet than an afternoon one. Start early, be back by lunch, and let the clouds do their work while you are in the pool.
The other trick is to treat rain as part of the programme. Order lunch to the villa, put the projector on, and leave the doors open to the garden. The smell of wet earth and frangipani is something you cannot book in any other month.
What does a Canggu villa cost in November?
Less than December. Accommodation and flights across Bali are generally cheaper in November, which is low season. Rates then climb as the December school holidays approach, and New Year pricing is a different conversation entirely. If you can travel in the first three weeks of November, you pay the shoulder price for the same pool and the same breakfast.
A private villa also earns its keep when it rains. At Villa Zoya, the double-height living room and the eight-seat kitchen island turn a wet afternoon into the best part of the trip. At Nomad House, rain on a concrete-and-glass frame is its own kind of show, and the private pool is warm enough to swim in while it falls. Both sleep six across three bedrooms and are a 45-minute drive from the airport.
Frequently asked questions
Is November a good time to visit Bali?
Yes. November sits between the dry season and the peak wet months, so you get lower prices and thinner crowds. Expect an afternoon shower on most days, with sunny mornings.
Does it rain all day in Bali in November?
Rarely. Rain usually arrives in the afternoon and lasts one to two hours. Canggu averages around 150 mm for the month, far less than January's 388 mm.
Is Bali busy in November?
No. November is low season, so beaches, cafés and restaurants are quieter than between June and September. Crowds and prices start to build in mid-December.
What should I pack for Bali in November?
Light clothing, sunscreen, comfortable sandals and a compact rain jacket. Add a dry bag if you ride a scooter, and bring one extra pair of shoes because damp shoes take a day to dry.
